Mission Statement:

World Services of La Crosse is a leader in the development and implementation of international partnerships designed to advance health, civil society, public administration and the environment, to promote peace and mutual understanding in countries throughout the world.

Connecting Communities:

World Services of La Crosse is a non-profit organization that works on connecting communities by connecting people. Through offering in-country consultation services or by hosting foreign professionals, we focus on developing programs, people and leaders who can make a difference in their community.  In providing an opportunity to bring people from different countries together we hope that the experience will change their view of one another. Our belief is that by connecting communities you can create bridges to building peace because people make the difference.

Building Peace:

World Services programs are strategically aligned with global partners in order to build and sustain a more secure and prosperous world.

Congratulations to Iowa Sister States and the State of Iowa! A long time hosting partner with World Services, Iowa Sister States and the State of Iowa are planning to host the likely future President of China in February.

Vice President Xi visited Iowa in 1985 as a Hebei Province Party official. Hebei Province and Iowa have been Sister States since 1983. Vice President Xi will meet with President Obama on February 14th. His U.S. trip will include travel to Iowa and California.

Carol Grant, Executive Director of Iowa Sister States, notes that "This really is a great example of how the seeds of friendship we sow create the potential for long term benefit for both sides."

Partnership To Improve Cancer Care in Russia Expanded

Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation (BMS) has selected World Services to receive a second $150,000 Bridging Cancer Care Initiative grant.  World Services will partner with Gundersen Lutheran Health System and the Balakovo, Russia, Secondary Medical College to enhance patient education, screening and referral to oncology specialists for people in the Saratov Oblast.

The two-year grant (2011 – 2013) will permit exchange visits between nurses and physicians in three Russian cities—Saratov, Balakovo and Volsk—and the La Crosse area.  The Saratov Oblast was selected because it has a high incidence of cancer.
